Q What is the purpose of the three different mouse pointers in Internet Explorer?
A The mouse pointer is called the cursor. Move the cursor over this page to see its different shapes!
The Arrow cursor simply shows where the cursor is (on most of the background and in the toolbars)
The blinking
I-beam cursor means you may highlight and copy the area (amongst the text)
The Hand-finger cursor indicates a link to another page. Underlined text is often a link and the letterhead at the top is a link - just click when the hand appears.
Q When I click on Common Thread - Newsletters or Committee Documents nothing happens

A box should appear asking for the password. If it does not appear it is because a security setting in Internet Explorer is stopping it.
To fix this problem,  tell Internet Explorer to accept the geelongpatch website as a trusted site.

Follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
  3. In Internet Options dialog box select the Security tab.
  4. Click on the Trusted Sites icon
  5. Click on the Sites button
  6. Enter http://www.geelongpatch.org.au in the Add window
  7. Check that the Require server verification (HTTPS)... is NOT ticked
  8. Click on the Add button and then Close
  9. Click OK to close the Internet Options

Q The Back icon does not work from inside the password protected areas
A Click on the Guild letterhead at the top of the page
Q I have forgotten the password for Common Thread - Newsletters
A Members are told the password when they pay their subscription to the guild.
